SASSA and Social Development November 2025 – New Measures to Improve Public Services Announced

SASSA and the Department of Social Development will implement a set of measures in November 2025 to improve service delivery, reduce fraud, and prioritise support for the most vulnerable beneficiaries.

Key Measures Effective November 2025

  • Robust identity verification — Biometric checks including fingerprint and facial verification at pay points to ensure payments reach the correct recipients.
  • Fast-tracking for the most vulnerable — Seniors over 75, people with severe disabilities, pregnant mothers, and families with children under two will receive expedited services and access to dedicated mobile SASSA units in remote areas.
  • Fully digital and self-serve — An upgraded mobile app and online services will allow beneficiaries to update payment details, change payment methods and dates, and report changes digitally.
  • Community support — Trained local liaison officers will assist beneficiaries with applications, forms, and explanations in local languages.
  • Adjusted grant payments — A small R10 increase will be applied to major social grants to help offset the cost of living.
  • Strengthened anti-fraud efforts — Expanded cross-verification and asset checks will help identify and prevent abuse of the grants system.

Guidance for Beneficiaries

  • Keep contact and banking details up to date to avoid payment interruptions.
  • Respond promptly to requests for documentation or verification from SASSA.
  • Use the SASSA app or website for self-service options and to check payment status.
  • Seek help from community liaison officers if you need support with forms or language assistance.
